Introduction

Ceramic fiber paper is the thinnest product form in the refractory fiber portfolio — typically 1–10 mm in thickness — produced by a wet papermaking process in which ceramic fibers and organic binders are formed into a thin sheet on a wire-mesh belt, then dried and calendared to consistent thickness and density. The organic binders burn out on first heat-up, leaving a flexible, lightweight insulating sheet with no significant volatile content.

Despite its apparent simplicity, ceramic fiber paper performs several thermal engineering roles that thicker products cannot. As a parting sheet between kiln furniture and ceramic ware, it prevents firing adhesion while protecting polished kiln car surfaces. As a gasket material, it seals irregular mating surfaces in furnace door frames and manhole covers. As an interleaving material in multi-layer metal strip processing, it prevents diffusion bonding between metal layers at high temperature.

Nengcheng produces paper in standard (1260 °C) and high-alumina (1430 °C) grades, in thicknesses from 1 mm to 6 mm, and in rolls up to 1200 mm wide for efficient cutting to customer-specified widths and lengths.
